Four Horn Concertos of  W. A. Mozart with Simplified Piano

The Four Horn Concertos by Mozart are here in this collection edited by Milan Yancich. Mr. Otakar Tvrdy has arranged new and simplified piano accompaniments that are a distinct improvement on existing editions. The technical problems for the piano have been significantly minimized while the music still adheres to the truth of Mozart’s composition. The solo horn line above the piano score is as Mozart composed the music. The edited phrasings of the solo horn part relates to the natural flow of hand horn technique, and generally follows the traditional and accepted musical phrasings of performing horn players.

J. S.  Bach Six Suites for Violoncello, arranged & edited by Milan Yancich

This edition faithfully transcribes the manuscript copy made by Anna Magdalena (Bach’s second wife) and allows the interpreter to express his own choice of articulation, phrasing, and pulsative accentuation. The transcription of the Suites encompasses the entire range of the French horn. These Suites offer an extensive opportunity to improvise with the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and the application of tone quality and dynamics. Trumpet colleagues have endorsed the Bach transcriptions as an ideal challenge for the trumpet as well, with occasional “octave jumps” to accommodate the trumpet range. The Bach Suites are a lifelong challenge both as studies and concert pieces.

Fifteen Solos for French Horn with Piano Accompaniment, arranged & edited by Milan Yancich

The majority of the music in this collection is drawn from the great Mastersong literature, but also included are works originally composed for opera, piano, violin, and French Horn. The texts to the “songs” are included so that the performer can better understand and interpret the meaning of the music. As Milan Yancich describes, “In the final analysis all successful performance results in the power to stir an audience with emotion. To do this the player must enter into the spirit of the music. The life of all music depends on modifications of tempo, of loudness, and special accents.”

Grand Duets for Horns, by J. Blanc

These duets are ideal for the teacher who wishes to accompany his student. They are an excellent study for transposition experience. Best of all, the duets are charming and musically delightful to perform. The first set of Grand Duets, No. 1 through 13, are written for two horns in treble clef and can be played on the natural horn. No. 14 through 31 are also in treble clef but written for the valve horn. The next group of 30 duets is designed for French horn in treble clef and for a bass clef instrument in concert key. Thus, the second part could be performed on the following instruments: French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, bassoon, cello, bass, and piano. The last 12 duets in the book are written for two horns in E-flat.
